Young Adult Ministry (YAM) - (WEXFORD)

There is a desire in the people of the greater Pittsburgh area to know God more, to be in authentic community, and to serve. NWCC has recognized this stirring and is addressing it. This is why the Y.A.M. has come to be. While this stirring isn’t unique to those in their 20s and 30s, until recently there hasn’t been a structured ministry to meet this age range’s specific needs in the Wexford area.

Structure

The North Way Wexford Y.A.M. is broken down into three (3) branches: a weekly prayer, small groups that meet off-site, and monthly large gatherings on the Wexford Campus.

Weekly Prayer: There is something about prayer—it works. It’s powerful. Without prayer this ministry would not have formed. In fact, this ministry started with three months of regular prayer by young adults for the young adults of Pittsburgh and North Way. We asked for God’s wisdom and direction. We still do. Weekly. Founder’s Room B, 7pm on Tuesdays - Wexford Campus - Come join us!

Small Groups: When the Church was born (see the Book of Acts), those who followed Jesus did a few distinct activities that set them apart from their culture—activities that lead to the abundant life God offers: They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2:42 NIV). We are to follow the same pattern today.

Small groups provide a unique outlet for this fellowship, this living life-together. They allow for a group of people to come together—eat, pray, discuss, read, encourage, or just “be”. While this isn’t a replacement for weekend worship, by consistently meeting with the same people, an environment of trust can be fostered; individuals become known and begin to know others. As Thomas Merton said, No Man is an Island. We were created for community.

If you don’t currently belong to a life-giving small group, please visit our Small Group Page for more information.

Monthly Large Gatherings: Small groups are critical, but there’s something to be said when a diverse group of people come together with the purpose of worshipping the Living God . It’s life-giving and it’s fun.

Live music, coffee, conversation, and teaching happens in the South Venue once a month—all led, created, and pulled-off by a team of staff and volunteers. For upcoming Young Adult events (3rd Tuesday of every month @ 7pm)
