Doug Melder | Oakland Pastor
Doug Melder lives in the East End of Pittsburgh with his wife Amy and children. Their mission is to live out the Gospel in the city of Pittsburgh, particularly as God has called them to pastor and lead a vibrant, healthy and passionate community of Christ-followers.
Doug began a relationship with Jesus when he was a freshman in high school, through the ministry of Young Life. After involvement with Young Life at a staff level, Doug came on staff at North Way Christian Community in 2001 in the student ministry department. Since that time, Doug has grown into different areas of responsibility within the church, particularly in teaching and leadership. After 8 school years in the student ministry world, Doug accepted a call to pastor a community that was just a few miles from his home in the city.
Doug earned a dual degree in Christian Thought and Christian Ministry from Grove City College and holds a Masters degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. Doug's area of study at Fuller was learning to view his own city of Pittsburgh from a missiological perspective, particularly focusing on the study the missional church in America, the Gospel in a post-modern world, and the movement of God around the globe.
Doug hopes that you will become a part of our community, as we see to follow God's call upon our church in this city, whatever that may be.
