Kidz Evacuation Policy - "Head to the Shed"
If the North Way Worship Center would ever have to be evacuated during a weekend or week day service or program, below is the
procedure that everyone should follow:
-
All children’s classrooms will be lead by their leader/leaders in an orderly fashion out of their rooms and to the nearest exit
door. Once outside they will proceed to the maintenance shed located in the northwest corner of our campus directly north of the
tennis court and playground.
-
Our staff and leaders will rope off the perimeter of the shed area and set up two check-out stations where you can check out your
children.
-
Parents should proceed to the shed area with the security number given to you when your child was checked into the room
in order to have your child "checked-out".
-
For your own child’s safety, we ask that parents not "intercept" their child/children
as the classrooms proceed to the shed area.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Kidz Emergency Procedure
In the event that an emergency situation would occur during a North Way Kidz Church weekend service (medical or otherwise) the
following procedure should be followed:
-
Use the standard "parent notification" system by placing the service security number of the child into the LED system currently located
in the Parent Resource room(glass house) in order to notify parents/guardians.
-
Contact the Kidz Ministry Director(Darren Bowers) or any Kidz Ministry staff personell who are present. They will in-turn contact the
Kidz Ministry Director.
-
If necessary, call 911 via cell phone or phone located in the Nursery Check-In area. (Obviously, this may become first thing that they
do.)
-
Notify the safety team via the black walkie-talkie located at the Kidz Ministry kiosk located outside the Parent Resource room(glass
house) so that they can make appropriate preparations for an ambulance to come on site.
Special Needs Children Policy
Our goal here at North Way is to have a fully trained volunteer team to oversee children with Special Needs. While we are forming that
team, our policy is for one parent/care-provider to accompany your child during Kidz ministry time.
"Bathroom Break" Policy
Should the need arise when a child has to go to the bathroom (either during an official “bathroom break” or an individual time in the
class), please abide by the following procedures:
-
Please have a female adult leader escort the child to the bathroom area.
-
When there, please open the door to the bathroom and stand in or right outside the doorway while the child goes to the bathroom. Do not
go inside a stall with a child. Any child over the age of 3 (who is entering the preschool program) who is not yet potty trained will
need to be changed by a parent, if the need arises. These guidelines will help ensure the safety of our children and you, as a volunteer.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Wellness Policy
We want to maintain a healthy environment for the children we serve and the volunteers who serve them. Please keep your child with
you if they have any of the following symptoms:
-
FEVER - 100 degrees or higher.
-
VOMITING - Within the last 24 hours.
-
DIARRHEA - Within the last 24 hours.
-
RUNNY NOSE - If accompanied by other symptoms and/or discolored discharge.
-
BAD COUGH - Coughing increases the chance of infection spread to others.
-
RASH - Unexplained rash.
These policies have been established to insure the health and well-being of all children entrusted to our care.
Discipline Policy
Definitions:
-
Disruption: Children are talking or playing when they should be listening.
-
Disrespect: Child is disrespectful to the teaching staff or another child. (Making inappropriate faces, calling one names, general
rudeness, etc.)
-
Disobedience: Child disobeys a clearly understood directive.
Action Steps:
-
Warning: Teacher will point out what child has done and why it is wrong and warn child that disciplinary action will take place
if rule is broken again.
-
Second Warning: Child is separated and moved away from the group that he/she is in collaboration with or bothering.
-
Child will be taken to the Kidz Ministry Staff at the Kidz desk to notify parent.
If the incident occurs again, the parent will be asked to stay in the class with their child the next time the child attends class.
However, we have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy on hitting or hurting another child. If the action was deliberate, the child should be brought
to the Kidz Staff person at the Kidz Desk. This person will notify the parent of the incident. The following session that the child
attends, he/she will be closely monitored. If the child chooses to hurt again, he/she will be asked to leave the class and will not be
re-admitted until a meeting with the parents has occurred with the Director of Kidz Ministries (and, when needed, a Pastor).
After the disciplinary action has been implemented, it is important that the child is prayed with, hugged (when appropriate) and forgiven
and then invited back into the group.
