MOPS - Mothers of Preschoolers
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban
and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all
share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten
are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.
MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for
today's mother of young children. Our North Way MOPS group requires a Pre-registration. Please contact
Amanda Szenyeri at 724-473-1015 or szen9@yahoo.com to learn more about our MOPS group and to request
a registration form.
2010-2011 Theme: Momology: The Art and Science of Mothering
Mothering is both art and science. It combines all of who we are to shape healthy, resilient kids.
Mothering is so complex it requires both sides of our brain—not to mention our hands and feet, eyes
and ears, mouth and unfortunately, sometimes even our noses! There’s the scientific side of mothering
where we develop a hypothesis based on certain principles, test that hypothesis in real-time, consider
the results and decide what parts work and what parts didn’t. We keep refining our hypotheses until
we find what works for us.
Intertwined with the scientific, mothering requires an artistry that shades with our personality, colors
with our unique gifts, and blends past and current experiences. Through Momology, as we explore together,
we’ll be guided by an all-knowing, all-powerful, always-present God. Our theme verse for the year is:
"Even there you hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast." ~ Psalm 139:10.
As we study Momology together, we will become better moms making a better world.
When We Meet
All meetings are held primarily the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 9 AM to 11:15 AM at North Way
Christian Community in the New Kidz Space area. We will begin our meetings promptly at 9AM. Please leave
enough time to drop off your kids in their designated room so that you will be in the room by the start
of the meeting.
Help Our Mothers!
We are in need of people who would love to serve and help our mom's by volunteering in the Moppets
room (child care program). Even one time a month is greatly welcomed. Please contact Brandy Kiker
(724) 584-4167 or
KIKERS@KIKERKIDS.COM
to help serve.
We are also in need of experienced Mother's who would love to serve at our meetings as a Mentor
Mom. Our young mom's look to our Mentor Mom's for advice on such issues as motherhood, parenting,
discipline, spirituality and marriage. If you are interested in being an integral part of these
young ladies lives, please contact Diana Weisser, 724-385-0055 or
djweisser@yahoo.com.
