August 7, 2017 | Amazing camping experience!
There haven’t been any updates from our Honduras team for a few days because we have been engaging in activities with children from a local urban ministry called AFE, and we haven’t been in locations with internet access. That’s a good thing! Our team is doing very well, and we have been building relationships with some kids whose families work in the main garbage dump for Tegucigalpa. We started our journey with the kids by visiting them at the AFE center which has a school, a medical clinic, micro enterprises, and housing programs that are part of the integral mission approach to transforming urban communities. We spent most of the day with the kids and doing work projects at AFE, and we also visited the garbage dump where the families of the children work. That was a powerful time of getting to know the kids and their families right where they spend most of their time. Then, we brought about 40 kids to camp through CCI for three days. It was a powerful time of connecting with the kids in nature. We have so much to report, which I’ll try to include in future blog posts. For now, though, I wanted to just check in to say that everyone on the team is doing well. We are bonding and united, and God did a major work in our lives and in the lives of the kids and leaders who were a part of the camp. We had fun, and Jesus was glorified. Can’t wait to share more details. Thanks for the prayers and please keep supporting us through prayer as we finish out our time in Honduras.
