Beaver Valley’s First Core Team Meeting On-Site
On Sunday, August 27, over 160 people met in an open space at 300 Brighton Avenue, Rochester to celebrate, explore and pray over the areas that will very soon turn into North Way’s newest campus: Beaver Valley. Members and attendees from our Wexford, Sewickley Valley and even some downtown campuses joined together with visitors from the communities surrounding the new Beaver Valley launch site in Rochester for nearly 2 hours to meet and greet staff, ministry leaders and other members of the congregation. Beaver Valley’s Campus Pastor, Chris White welcomed everyone in a makeshift meeting room, amongst steel beams and piles of drywall and began the time together with a video
about the history of Beaver Valley. Pastor Chris then introduced several other North Way pastors and staff and elders in attendance. Amy White, a North Way worship leader for over 16 years, most recently assigned to lead Beaver Valley, joined Chris in speaking to the crowd about the opportunities for involvement and connection, now and once the campus has launched, such as:
- Joining a small group.
- Signing up to serve in a ministry area (worship, hospitality, kids, etc.).
- Planning a service project or work day.
- Attending future Core Team meetings.
- Creating everyday conversation to invite others to attend.
Pastor Kent Chevalier from the Wexford Campus offered prayer over our evening and our efforts toward this launch, then turned the microphone to Rebecca Fabritius, Beaver Valley’s newest staff addition as Campus Manager, who gave instructions for the anticipated tour of the facility. Six tour guides walked groups of 15-20 attendees through six stations where key leaders spent a few minutes speaking about the ministry that will happen in that space. Among the stations, Dave D’Angelo spoke to attendees about North Way’s Kids Ministry in a framed corridor, with just the shell of classrooms nearby, marked by posters identifying age groups & grades that will meet in those soon-to-be-completed areas. Billy Bob White spoke to groups in our largest open space, the Worship Center, explaining the layout and capacity and exciting new equipment to come. Amanda Seidler & Daleen Nimick met with folks one-on-one at a refreshment area where they answered questions about how to get connected or join a group. There were tours of the lobby and café area, the open office space and any place that was safe enough to explore through hanging electrical wires, tools & construction debris. There was an overwhelming feeling of excitement and anticipation in the air all evening, as small conversations sparked in many settings. It is a truly unique blessing to have the opportunity to see a launch from this stage of raw construction, room outlines just beginning to form, plans being set in motion and experiencing the excitement build within the Core Team and the community. Watching this campus develop into the space where people will hear gospel-centered teaching, experience authentic community, participate in spirit-led worship and potentially be transformed … is inspiring. Beaver Valley’s official launch date is Sunday, February 4, 2018, but will also offer two Christmas Eve services to the community, as well as other events and service opportunities between now and launch time. If you would like more information on joining the Beaver Valley Core Team or would like to be added to a mailing list to receive future event dates for the Beaver Valley Campus, please email Rebecca
. We would very much appreciate your prayer as we finish the work set ahead of us and prepare to launch North Way’s newest campus in Beaver Valley!
