International Women’s Day | March 8, 2017

Today was a fun-filled day that began early in the morning with a spontaneous trip to Cornerstone Television (Pittsburgh’s Christian TV station). One of the YWAM directors was asked to share about the refugee ministry here in Pittsburgh and invited our team to come along. We got to help out with CTV’s prayer line by picking up calls and praying for individuals over the line. This afternoon, we wrote encouragement letters to the refugee women in the community and delivered them along with some flowers, in honor of International Women’s Day. The women were very appreciative and it was a great opportunity to share God’s love with them. In the evening, we helped out with the Nepali youth group held by the YWAM staff. We played games, attempted to learn a Nepali dance, and talked about the Transfiguration. It was a great time of fellowship and building relationships with the youth. Thank you for all of your prayers, God is at work here!

FIFA Tournament/Beauty Night | March 7, 2017

It was another exciting and full day. In the morning we had devotions and ministry training. In the afternoon we were able to sit down as a team and write encouragement notes to the youth and young adults of the refugee families to tell them about God’s love for them. We then gave these notes to the kids as they left the evening event. The evening event was a FIFA soccer PlayStation tournament for the guys and a beauty night for the girls. The guys had a great time eating snacks, playing ping pong, and playing each other in a single elimination FIFA tournament with one of the young boys taking home the prize. It was a good opportunity to connect with the guys, ask them about their day, and learn about some of their favorite things. The girls had a great time at their beauty night doing henna, nails, and facials. The facials were done using three different types of fruit, and the gospel was shared through a short message using the fruit. There were great conversations about life, school, where they came from, and about Jesus. Thanks so much for your prayers!
