February 23, 2017 | Farewell

Today was our last working day in Honduras. We planned a full day of clinic at family hope center Las Brisas, and we weren’t disappointed. We warmed up with 78 patients who received medical and dental care in the morning; after a quick lunch break our team was able to provide services to another 129 patients. A tremendous amount of thanks is due to the fabulous Honduran Doctors, Nurses, and Dentists who worked shoulder to shoulder with us all week to provide this care. Overall this week we were able to attend to the physical needs of 515 people from the local community. Additionally we were able to assist with the education of the families involved with Buckner on oral and bodily hygiene, sexual health, water safety, and food safety as well as nutrition. This was simply a whirlwind; but it was amazing to watch God pave the way in front of us for us to move according to His will. We also dedicated our evening devotions all week to scriptural manifestations of love in our lives. It was incredible the way the Word was revealed in new ways as we studied. After completing the long day at FHC, we returned with just enough time to clean up before heading to our farewell dinner. There it was time to reflect and express gratitude to Maurice and Lara from Buckner for handling every aspect of our logistics and working alongside us, Fer and Jose for their fantastic work as our translators; and Moses and Julio for driving us and Davil for keeping us safe as we went about our work. These people expended maximum effort to make our trip an incredible success. I write this at the end of another amazing day in San Pedro Sula. Tomorrow we will be up early to hike up one of the mountains for a Bird’s eye view of this city I’ve come to love before heading to the airport for the journey back to Pittsburgh and our families. Blessings from Honduras
