February 7, 2017 | Amiga Island

We spent our last full day in Haiti at Amiga Island. After breakfast, we drove down to the bay and boarded a very colorful boat ran by Haitian Creole Tours (a small business owned and operated by a few former EBAC students). The boat ride to Amiga Island took about half an hour and we all took so many photos along the way. There were some truly beautiful scenes! When we got to the island, we hopped off the boat and immediately spent some time in the water. Three of us decided earlier in the week that we wanted to be baptized, and so Bob and Sandy baptized Sarah, Rachel, and myself (Micah) in the beautiful blue water. It was an incredible moment for us. After the baptisms, a few of us took advantage of the snorkeling equipment brought along by the guys of Haitian Creole Tours. We saw cannons and an anchor from a shipwreck! We also saw a small coral reef. After we returned to the beach, our tour guides arranged to buy some crabs and have them cooked on the beach for us. They were absolutely incredible. We were all sad to leave the island in the afternoon, but it was truly a perfect way to end our time here in Haiti.
