June 25, 2018 | Day of Rest
Today was a day of rest and relaxation for our team. Yesterday we wrapped up the camping experience with the AFE children, I preached at the local church where many of the AFE families are members, we had a celebration luncheon where we watched a slideshow of the camping experience with everyone, and then we headed to Valle de Angeles to rest and do some shopping and exploring. The area has some cool artisan shops and restaurants. I was thrilled to find some artwork that I’ll be bringing home to Pittsburgh, and just about everyone on our team found some unique gifts to take home with us for friends and family. We all had fun playing cards together and sharing stories of our adventures from this past week. And we got to sleep in a little while. This evening we all converged in Lisa’s home for an evening of enjoying her property. Since she works for Christian Camping International, she has managed to turn her property here in Honduras into a mini camp of sorts. It’s really a beautiful and peaceful piece of property and we’re enjoying the time together. We’ve been praying for the young people at AFE that we’ve had the opportunity to get to know this week as well as praying for the local leaders that are doing such a great job here in Tegucigalpa. Our team was able to see the impact of Lisa’s ministry first hand. She’s really doing transformational work in the area of local leadership development here in Honduras and throughout Latin America. We’re going to have some reflection time tonight before bed, and then tomorrow we have another full day in store with learning more about urban shalom, getting to know more about Honduran culture, and preparing for reentry into the United States. Please continue to pray for the health of our team and for safe travels back home. Thanks for praying!
