June 5, 2017 | Wilda

When we were at EBAC, I mainly tutored the older kids. I spent a lot of time with one young woman in particular whose name is Wilda. Wilda worked on her geography studies for most of the time that we were there, but towards the end of our second day there, she asked me to read an essay that she was assigned to write for her English studies. I read the essay and was so moved by it. Wilda had written about how when she was younger, she was very sick for a long time and was not getting better. She wrote that her family was very worried and that they prayed and prayed that God would heal her. She stated that eventually, God answered her prayers and she did get better. She then wrote that all she wants to do now is praise God and give him glory for goodness and that she thanks him every day for helping to heal her. I was so moved by Wilda’s essay. She surprised me with the depth of her faith, and I felt challenged to praise the Lord just as often and as openly as Wilda does. I have been keeping in touch with Wilda via letters since I got back home, and I look forward to continuing that relationship for years to come. -- Micah
