October 12, 2017 | Day 7 – Beach Day
Today was the greatly anticipated beach day when the team gets to head out and enjoy the water and sand of the gorgeous island of Haiti. They take a 20 minute car ride over to the coast and then a 45 minute boat ride out to Friendship Island. This day is, of course, fun because of the time to relax and enjoy the sun and beach but it is also a joy because they have the opportunity to patron a business that was founded by graduates of the EBAC academy- Haitian Creole Tour. It’s encouraging to see that the students from this school, which our team works closely with, are attaining the skills necessary to move on and create flourishing entrepreneurial ventures that bring industry to Cap Haitien. After arriving at Friendship Island, the team spent as much time as they could in the water, enjoying the sun, snorkeling, and paddle boarding. For lunch they savored fresh crab and lobster that was caught off the shore of the island by some local fishermen. The team returned to the Joshua House around 2 and then spent the rest of the evening relaxing and packing with a quick visit down to IDADEE orphanage. Tomorrow the team will head to Pastor Jean Claude’s home in the morning to say their goodbyes before catching their flight to Miami. Please be praying for good rest tonight, safe travels tomorrow, and for the process each team member will go through to assimilate their experiences from this trip into their identity as a follower of Christ.
